Carl, I have enjoyed watching your pursuit of a pastime in political commentary. I agree with many of your positions and we share many demographic traits. Our age, class, heritage, geographic location, faith background, level of education, status as parents & travel experiences are similar.
You have gained the confidence needed to work in this area. Your energy & passion are present. Your skill in the area of content creation is good. You embraced AI visuals and come up with some entertaining images. Your political phraseology matches current usage.
Your headline asks a question. To paraphrase: Is my stance criticizing the Democratic positions too polarizing, angry, & damaging to the cause? Your content argues that it is not. Complacency is dangerous. I would like to hear more of what actions you believe our representatives should take, what citizens like us should do, and your ideas on how we can solve this conundrum by harnessing our powers. Who is leading the cause locally?
I got a little lost in the descriptive language. Try punching up your prose. Emphasize your main ideas. Keep trendy turns of phrases to a minimum. This matters! Represent!
Thanks, I’m trying to use hooks and non academic approaches to my tomes but I certainly appreciate your thoughts. I’m trying to make most work folksy and approachable. If I get 3 people to reconsider their opinions that’s great. Tell me more about “Carl, I have enjoyed watching your pursuit of a pastime in political commentary. I see your strategy, it is good to engage those who may be flipped. Not an easy task.
Sometime in 2008-09, I saw a notice regarding your film about the encounter with His Holiness the Dali Lama. I was curious since I was employed at a local non profit that was donating gently used books, hospital supplies & generic surplus pharmaceuticals to partner NGOs in global trouble spots. I read up on refugees and their plight. Geopolitics, charities and healthcare were covered well by Reuters.
Good work...as 4 me, I battle on Facebook

Then you appeared on Facebook, a contrast to Reuters but entertaing it's own way. Gradually, I discovered we lived in the same borough, shared a birth year, tended to liberal politics, grew up in small communities with working class, 2nd generation immigrant status. Also, Catholicism was an influence with Buddhist leanings now. We have successful college educated adult children. Since the election, I joined Substack. If I ever met you, I'd introduce myself. Garcia-Marquez wrote "Love in the time of Cholera," I'm only half joking when I say I'm considering writing "Common thoughts in the time of Isolation, Democracy's downfall, & Neo-fascism"©️
See ya around Carl!
